A CVC Life Change Story ...

Dear Pastor John,

I needed to write you this email this morning because I am so in awe of what has happened in our lives. As I told you at one time George and I were splitting up. Anyway, we had been somewhat talking but not getting anywhere for the last couple of weeks. So I guess one thing you need to know is that we are both alcoholics, addicted, etc. Another thing you should know is that many years ago I did ask Jesus into my life. Granted I have not been a good example, have backslid continuously ... I guess you could have called me a roller-coaster Christian.

Well we went to breakfast and I knew that the only way we could ever consider getting back together was if we both quit drinking and he quit the pot. So I mentioned the STEP program on Tuesday nights at church (just so happened it was Tuesday). I was contemplating going for a long time for anger management. Little did I know it is the alcohol I had to dump first. I thought for sure George would say NO, we can do this ourselves. But he didn't. He said ok lets go see what this is all about. Well when we got there he saw Mark Lera and knew him from days past if you know what I mean. Seeing Mark and his life turned around gave us both hope. So we stayed and got in a group. Anyway, we both had a positive experience and said we would be back. So we have spent time together since, no booze, no pot.

Today is Friday and the most awesome day of our lives. Today I came to work and found a letter from George. I read it and oh my gosh, I cried. George said: "... yesterday I had a very unique and long talk with God. I did something I have never done before or thought I would ever do. I confessed to Him that I was a sinner ... that I wanted Him to help me and I wanted to become a Christian and a better person." So there you have it. I just had to share this with you. I truly never thought this would happen. I know it is not going to be all easy, but I do know we now have a good place to start, thanks to God, CVC and STEP.
